Sugarhouse
Officially established in 1853, this area was given it's name from a sugar mill that was under construction at the time and never completed-- the equipment never arrived from France. The building later became a woolen Mill but the original name never changed.
The community spans from 1300 South to 3300 South and 500 East to 2300 East. The main attraction is the old established neighborhoods with post WWII bungalows.
Sugarhouse is one of Salt Lake City's most sought after areas. The area has long been known as a charming and sophisticated shopping area and has recently had a major "face lift". This is also the home of the privately owned Westminster College.

It is brimming with small shops spaced between national shops like Barnes & Noble and Whole Foods.
Sugarhouse park is also a main attraction with stunning mountain views. This was also the site of the States first penitentiary, commissioned by Brigham Young in 1853 and demolished in 1951.
